raven origami

This is suppose to be a raven, I guess is kind of looks like one.  I folded it following the diagrams in the book "Beautiful Origami" by Zulal Ayture-Scheele.

Origami windmill

My potted plant need some decor so I made it an Origami windmill.  It is secured with a cute ladybug push pin.

origami butterflies

Some new origami butterflies.  These were folded following the diagrams in  "Origami Craft Pad".  The instructions were fairly simple and easy to follow.  I like the clean simplicity of the resulting butterfly.

Saar star origami

 A simple little origami star designed by Endia Saar.  To fold this I followed the diagrams in Ornagami by Gay Merrill Gross ( published by Barnes & Noble in 2007).  The diagrams/instructions were very clear and easy to follow (some of the clearest diagrams I've seen actually).

Using the diagrams in the book 'Trash Origami' by Michael G. Lafosse & Richard L. Alexander I folded this modular origami ball.  It is an original design by Herman van Goubergen - I found online diagrams on the British origami Society's website.

This was easy to fold but somewhat hard to put put together.  My curls weren't strong enough to hold it together on their own - I needed to add a little glue to each curl as I attached them.

camellia flower origami

 I folded these origami flowers following the camellia instructions in the book 'The Joy of Origami' by Toshie Takahama.  I wasn't able to find folding instructions online for this particular origami camellia.  I tried folding this twice & I'm still not sure if I have it right.  The petals didn't fold out nicely for me in the final step.

origami flowers for earrings/necklace

Folded a few little origami flowers with the idea of making earrings & a necklace.  I followed the instructions in the book 'Origami Jewelry' by Ayako Brodek.  I didn't care for the way she designed the earrings in the book and and though I would make some with just one flower.  Not sure right now how I will attach them to the ear wires.  I think I will make a modified cord for the necklace.

monopoly money butterflies

Some butterflies folded from monopoly money.  To make these I followed the directions for "candy wrapper butterflies" in the book 'Trash Origami' by Michael G. Lafosse and Richard L. Alexander.

dachshund origami

I made a little dachshund origami following the instructions in the book 'The Joy of Origami' by Toshie Takahama.  Not the easiest origami instructions to follow - I thought the folds to get the ears to form could have been diagrammed better.  After a few tries I did manage to get something that looks about right.  I think its a cute little wiener dog at least.

page-a-day origami

The other day I purchased an unopened 2010 page-a-day origami calender at a local thrift store.  Nice concept - lots of interesting shapes to fold.  I like that the reverse side of the calender pages are printed with traditional origami patterns, I don't like that they printed contact info on it.  Not that I would want to use most of it anyway -  many of the origami instructions I want to save.  For the couple of dollars I spent on it it was well worth it.

painted origami carambola flowers

I've been folding some more  carambola origami - this time I  tried using 89 gram Nekoosa opaque offset paper (a basic office stationary type paper).  After making the pentagon I painted the sheet with Delta's Paint for Paper paint.  So far this is my best flower yet :)

Using the  Video tutorial by Sara Adams I folded a few little paper flowers.  First time I've folded origami following a video.  I much prefer written instructions/diagrams, but I did eventually get it .   They're a little wonky looking but they are at least folded right (at least I think they are).   Paper weight on these is very important - too light and its hard to form the petals, too heavy and the petals don't fold out well.  I ended up using scrapbook paper, which works but the crease lines tend to break and show the white under the printed design.
