sock knitting journal

I've been knitting awhile and over the years I've found it to be helpful to keep notes on the projects that I've made.  While I love the project feature on Ravelry  I also keep "hard copies" of my  knitting notes.  The socks notes are in a ribbon-bound book I made especially for them.  Each project has 1 page with notes on gauge, needles, etc. along with a piece of the yarn  & the yarn's label.  The rest of my knitting projects are just in a 3-ring binder.  Each project has 1 clear sleeve containing the pattern, notes, yarn sample & label.

watercolor sketchbook

my supplies

 Decided to make a little watercolor sketchbook.  It is about 6" x 6".

Supplies:   watercolor paper, bookcloth (scraps that I bought at the Scrap Box), decorative paper for inside covers (purchased at Hollanders), bookboard, 3/4" wire binding and Zutter binder.

butterfly books

I thought it was time for some more bookbinding.   So I made a couple little 4" square butterfly sketch books.  To make these I used my little Zutter bind-it-all, 3/4" wire binding, 4 pieces of scrap mat board, book cloth, some text-weight paper  and a scrap piece of butterfly fabric.  I cut the butterflies out after fusing the fabric with a double sided iron-on fusing and then fused them to the book cloth.

twelve-month organizer

A nice little organizer book I made following the instructions in the book  "re-bound" by Jeannine Stein.  I changed it up a little - I used 3 x 5 1/2" kraft envelopes instead of 6 x 9" and sized everything down to fit the smaller envelopes.

mini ribbon journal

A simple little book using the instructions from a Books by Hand bookbinding kit I had previously bought.
Supplies used :  2 laminate samples (1 3/4" x 2 5/8"), 1 yard ribbon, text or card-stock paper for the pages,  bookbinding thread, decorative paper for inside covers, old book pages, 2 eyelets, acrylic paint, stamping ink, Mod Podge and PVA glue.

For the covers I first covered both sides with old book pages using the Mod Podge.  After the glue dried I lightly brushed some acrylic paint over the covers, let that dry and then stamped a medallion image over the paint.  My  laminate samples had holes in them so I decided to put eyelets in the existing holes and thread ribbon through them.

I made 12 signatures with card-stock weight paper and sewed them together with the ribbon.  Using the PVA I glued the covers onto the bookblock, keeping the ribbon ends outside of the covers.  With more PVA I glued black mulberry paper inside each cover.

One creative thing I plan to do everyday is a sketch.  Today I made a little sketchbook for my daily sketch.  Normally I like to make books with a sewn binding but for sketching I prefer a simple hardcover wire bound book.  The one I made is 8" square with a little origami paper decoration on the cover.
