Navajo plying the single |
Just got my copy of Spin-off magazine and there is an article on Navajo plying on the fly - which is spinning a length of single fiber and then immediately plying the just spun single into a three-ply yarn. Of course I had to give it a try.
It was a little awkward at first but I got a rhythm going eventually. I think I'm going to really like using this technique. Next, it was time to test knit the bit of yarn that I just spun. I knit it in the round on size 2 needles. There seems to be a little bit of a bias but not too bad, although I'm sure it would be more noticeable on a flat piece of knitting.
