red felted hat

hat before felting

hat after felting
Decided to make a hat out the Rowan Big Wool Fusion I had left over from the red sweater I knitted in August.  I loosely knit the hat on US size 15 needles and washed it with some towels to felt it down a bit.
I love how nicely this yarn felts. The diagonal pattern doesn't show up well now that it is felted but I love how it fits.

oatmeal cookies #2

Today I made some revised oatmeal cookies, and this time they were not only edible but actually even pretty good  :)

spicy oatmeal cookies (recipe based on the one on the box of Kroger's old-fashioned oats)

1/2 cup canola oil
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1/4 cup agave syrup
1 egg
1/2 teas vanilla
1/2 teas grated fresh ginger
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teas cinnamon
1/4 teas nutmeg
1/4 teas cardamon
1/2 teas baking soda
1/2 teas salt
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1/3 cup raisins

Mix oil and sugars together and beat in egg, grated ginger and vanilla.  In small bowl mix together cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamon, baking soda and salt. Add spice mix to flour, blend thoroughly and stir into sugar mix.  Stir in remaining ingredients.  Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.

woven scarf

Started a new woven scarf today.  The warp is Noro Silk Garden and the weft a fingering weight wool.

oatmeal cookies

Tonight I made some spicy oatmeal cookies.  Not the best cookies ever - I think that the problem was the that I substituted "regular" sugar with "coconut" sugar.  The last time I substituted in coconut sugar I also didn't care for the results but it was a new recipe so I wasn't sure if the sugar was the problem.  I will give it one more try (it was pretty expensive) before I toss it.

scarf woven from recycled yarn

Today's project was a scarf woven with the yarn that I unraveled from a thrift store sweater in March.  Soft, fluffy yarn may not have been the best choice for the warp.....it was a bit of a pain but I did manage to weave the whole scarf.
